Looking the Part

I love the ways in which schools enable children to get the best experiences out of practical lessons by giving them task-appropriate kit to wear - lab coats and goggles for science, aprons and chefs’ hats for cookery. Being dressed like the professionals excites and motivates and, no doubt, causes some children to develop life-long passions and careers. Maybe we’re looking at the next virus pioneer right here in this gallery!

I’ve seen impressive kitchen spaces and wonderful edible gardens and allotments where pupils get to engage with growing food as well as cooking with it - so much more than the sunflower seed and mustard-cress that I grew as a kid, today, school environments are filled with wonderful learning opportunities at every turn.
